The current liturgy we're using for lighting the Advent candle does very little for me I'm afraid.

This is one of the responses

Jesus, light of the world
Send out your light, Lord
send your truth to be my guide.
then let them lead me
to the place where you reside.

Not a favourite.

We pray that by your power we might, celebrate nativity,
The infant Babe will set us free.

Actually it was bright sunshine that Sunday - and it was a misprint... the days of overflowing latrine trenches are long past my friend.
