The current liturgy we're using for lighting the Advent candle does very little for me I'm afraid.

This is one of the responses

Jesus, light of the world
Send out your light, Lord
send your truth to be my guide.
then let them lead me
to the place where you reside.

Not a favourite.

As we light this candle bright,
We pray that by your power we might, celebrate nativity,
The infant Babe will set us free.
And now free from the power of sin,
Open the gates and let us in.

Any better :)  ?

Thanks Mark, duly noted

As for rhyming couplets, I wonder how many sang Thou didst leave Thy throne for Advent 4?

'The couch was the sod
For the Son of God'

Always gets a smirk..  ::)

Actually it was bright sunshine that Sunday - and it was a misprint... the days of overflowing latrine trenches are long past my friend.
