I find this a really interesting topic because I'm perhaps one of the only people in the whole wide world who truly isn't affected by this issue. Yes - I lnow it's odd but I really am totally unaffected and to be honest uninterested in the whole shooting works and this causes so many really interesting effects in others around me.

From many of those in favour I get the, "How can you not be totally onside and desperately keen to see this wrong righted?" approach to things and from the other side of the fence I get the, "How on earth can you not be angry that when the vote was 'No' there was all that 'not listening to he Holy Spirit' stuff and now, having forced things through, played politics and engineered fasttracking and the like they have to cheek to say that 'at last the Church is righting wrongs and listening to God?"

You know what - I don't know what God is saying on this (probably because I'm not listening) and I'm totally ambivalent about the whole shebang and I find it all rather tiresome. I am so very fed up with people who can talk for hours about righting wrongs and equality and all that stuff and yet, if I am frank, I don't think I've heard any of the do five minutes on the Gospel! The passion that both sides demonstrate is amazing - well it would be if it were on winning souls rather than proving points.

Sadly I feel the same for so many of the other issues which attract the, "You must agree with me," mindset. I don't give a fig for all or any of them - I'm about Jesus not politics, power and who has what (unless it's feeding the hungry, freeing the captives and setting the prisoners free that is).

What is odd is that so many I meet appear to have the same viewpoint but are afraid to even admit to thinking such in case it attracts condemnation and so we find that there is a silent (and fearful) underclass developing - and that cannot be right.

So there we are - spleen vented :)

I just sit and pray that God knows enough to run His Church and that we don't find ourselves politically engaged and Gospel poor!

which particular hot-button issue are you on about? Women bishops, inclusive church, gay rights, remarriage of divorcees, ...
and by the way do you mean uninterested or disinterested?

Have you heard about SpecialistAuctions.com? The only REAL alternative to Ebay for collectables online auctions
