Have seen some tedious games of rugby in my time, and the opening Ireland:Italy match in this year's 6-Nations has to count among them.  What on earth has happened to the Irish flair of the last year or two?

It didn't get any better either... - Ireland did win (as expected), - but frankly had it been any other team in opposition I doubt they would have.

Well - I don't know if you were watching the England-Wales match Andy (and are hiding/drowning your sorrow because they were beaten!) but it WAS a far better match. Mind you, it would have been hard for it not to be... The last two tries were both fantastic - one to Wales & one to England. I think the first try probably would not have happened if the ref hadn't made a mistake, but there you go. It made for a far more realistic score, and a better match as it kept Wales in contention score-wise...

A good England -Wales game indeed (and a good result too if you're not Welsh! Sorry Andy).

Watching highlights of Italy game - didn't see any :(

Hey Ho - we're under way.

But my team won, 30-17.  If I wasn't too ill to go to church this morning, I'd be wearing my England rugby shirt there with pride.

I think my chief concern - despite our winning - was some very weird referring decisions.  If Alan Wyn-Jones deserved to be sin-binned for his trip, what about Ryan Jones' cynical kicking out at Wilkinson (IIRC) earlier in the half, or Shaw's 'tackle' of a Welsh defender that opened the gate for England's 2nd try?

In fact, England could have had a try-scoring opportunity midway through the first half (at a 5m scrum IIRC) only for the referee to penalise one of the England players for something that even Eddie Butler (staunch Welsh supporter) pointed out in the commentary hadn't occurred!!

There were indeed some pretty weird decisions from that ref - but I think they cut both ways. In the end I think the score was a reasonable reflection of the game.
